Saving the climate together?

As part of the model project "Learning from and with each other", a workshop entitled "Saving the climate together?" took place last Monday in the garden of the Mafalda Girls* Cultural Center. The theme of the workshop was the climate crisis and climate justice, and was aimed at sensitizing participants to these important issues and developing concrete approaches for action.

The workshop began with a short introduction. Some of the participants already knew the trainers, as they had participated in an empowerment camp for girls* last year, which had also taken place as part of the aforementioned model project.

An essential part of the workshop was the discussion about how much the participants had already addressed climate change. This mapping helped to identify different levels of experience and knowledge within the group and formed the basis for further discussions.

To test participants' knowledge while having fun, a climate quiz was conducted via Mentimeter. The questions and answers were thought-provoking and promoted understanding of the complexity of the climate crisis.

A highlight of the workshop was the association method, where participants thought about what climate change feels like. Using images of dystopias and utopias, participants were able to express their feelings and thoughts about climate change.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

During the workshop, the focus was not only on the effects of climate change, but also on the conscious use of resources and the reduction of waste. In this context, a creative and sustainable idea emerged: the establishment of a flea market for the visitors of Mafalda.

The workshop participants were aware that many of us own things that we no longer need, but that are still in good condition. Instead of throwing these things away or leaving them unused in their closets, they decided to offer them at a flea market. This flea market is intended to give the visitors of Mafalda the opportunity to buy used items that are still fully functional and deserve a second life.

Thanks to the participants and to the girls* cultural center Mafalda for the cooperation!
