Strong together

With the graffiti workshops at the Charles Hallgarten School, the cohesiveness in the learning groups, but also the individual students should be strengthened in their sense of self as important people. Beginning with getting to know each other on the first day, the students got the possibility to share bad and good experiences at school and and thus had an introduction in the topic of identity.

On the photo one can see a wall of the Charles Hallgarten School with many small graffiti pictures on it. Some show hearts or stars, for example.

Where is the political education?

Working with young people from a special school on questions of identity and discrimination always involves questions of participation. Participation is often very remote for these young people. Over the next two days, the participants were able to use spraying as a self-effective way of expressing themselves. On the one hand, they were able to experience a lot of autonomy through working concentrated alone by themselves. On the other hand, the group emerged stronger by cooperative forms of sharing and working together.

We learned a lot ourselves and would like to thank all participants, but also our cooperation partners and the school for their patience and warmth with us!
