Canvas City in Munich

From the 4th to the 6th of October we were able to play our game Canvas City, developed by us in cooperation with mediale pfade, at the Municipal Academy of Social Education in Munich. The mobile augmented reality game tells the story of a smart city in a dystopian digital city, which is certainly not that far away. In Canvas City society has decided to merge government and administration in a central AI named "Cortex" together. During the workshop days, the participants were able to find out that the development seen here are no longer a future.

Two women play the augmented reality game Canvas City with a tablet. Walls with graffiti can be seen behind them.

The importance of digitalisation for the educator profession was also topic

Digitalisation brings us the democratization of knowledge and the possibility of global networking, just as it brings us monitoring and new dependencies on technologies. The more important it is for all of us to get involved in the debate on digitalisation. In addition to the game, we discussed with future educators what digital development means for their professional practice. It became clear that even if media education is not necessarily on the agenda for young children and toddlers, the influence of digital media, smart objects and technologies in the children's environment and social media must be dealt with here as well.
