"Places of German History - Buchenwald and Weimar 2023": National Socialism - what does it have to do with me?
Starts: 13. Februar 2023
Ends: 16. Februar 2023
Weimar
For young people, the confrontation with national socialism in Germany is often associated with a feeling of tiredness. At the same time, with the increase of right-wing violence and, at the latest, with the racist murders of Hanau in 2020, the danger of right-wing ideologies is very present. This event will take place in German language.
On four days in February, the participants will explore a central epoch of German history in a place with huge historical Backround. To this end, they will search for evidences in the city of Weimar and the Buchenwald Memorial and deepen their knowledge on a specific focus in various workshops. At the same time, we also address the question: What relevance do visits to memorial sites have for school and extracurricular political education, even after such a long time and in a diverse society?
The event takes place in cooperation with the EJBW Weimar and in cooperation with the Helmut-Schmidt-Schule Usingen.
