Good Climate for All*!
The escalating climate crisis poses significant challenges and changes to German society as well as to humanity on a global scale. However, not everyone* is equally involved and affected. The unequal consequences of climate change and questions of justice deriving from them show this virulently. A good (collective) life in a globalised world is highly contested.
In the face of increasing struggles for resources and social polarization, civic education has one task in particular: facilitation of a democratic and inclusive debate on our collective planetary future, guided by human rights and encompassing global, local, and individual concerns. and necessities.
We conceive two central working fields in this area:
1. Enable all* to take part in the debate
2. Mediate between the polarized social groups
Our work is based on an intersectional analysis of social power relations concerning the climate crisis and the challenges of socio-ecological transformation. In terms of content and methodology, we relate to the concepts of education for sustainable development and global learning. We take on educational approaches on anti-discrimination and a critical historical perspective, in order to give more visibility to marginalized and disadvantaged positions.
